The glass top of an induction range is lifted away in a US home kitchen, exposing four flat copper coils and a green circuit board with a small cooling fan beside them.

Induction Range Board and Coil Repair

Induction zones that ignore the pan, cut out, post error codes or stay dead, traced to the coil, its sensors, the power board or the cooling fan.

What the induction range board and coil repair
involves.

Induction range board repair deals with the electronics that make an induction zone work. Each coil under the glass is driven by a power board that switches current at high frequency, and a filter board cleans up the supply before it gets there. Sensors under each coil report the pan and the glass temperature, and one or two fans move air across the boards. A board damaged by heat or a surge usually takes out one pair of zones at once; a fan clogged with grease lets the boards overheat and shut down mid-cook; a coil or sensor failure leaves a zone that no longer recognizes the pan. Codes from the touch panel point toward the part, and the repair confirms it by measurement before a board is ordered.

How the visit goes

Induction board and coil repair,
step by step.

Run each zone at several power levels with a pan, confirming pan detection and steady power without cutting out.

01

Record any code, and test each zone with a pan known to work on induction.

02

Switch the range off at the breaker, wait for the boards to discharge, then lift the glass top.

03

Inspect the coils, sensors, fans and boards for heat damage, grease and loose connectors, and measure each coil and board output.

04

Replace the failed coil, sensor, fan or board, reseat every connector and clean the air path.

05

Run each zone at several power levels with a pan, confirming pan detection and steady power without cutting out.

All service areas

Tampa BayFL · 31 areas

Induction ranges are still a small share of Tampa Bay kitchens, and when a zone stops detecting a pan, the check covers the cookware, the coil and the power board, with any surge after a summer storm part of the history taken.

OrlandoFL · 30 areas

Newer Orlando houses and rentals sometimes come with an induction range, and guests who bring pans that are not magnetic make a missing pan signal a frequent call, so the visit rules that out with a known-good pan before any board is tested.

Miami / South FloridaFL · 47 areas

Induction ranges turn up in new and renovated Miami towers, and their power boards depend on cooling air, so a zone that shuts down mid-sear is checked for a blocked fan intake as well as for board damage.

New York MetroNY · 75 areas

New York's newest all-electric buildings are bringing induction ranges into kitchens that once knew only gas, and a repair there traces an error through the coil, the power board and the cooling fan with the range still in its slot.

HoustonTX · 36 areas

Houston's induction ranges are mostly in recent remodels, and after a storm-season outage or surge, a range that shows an error on every zone is tested at the power board and its fuses before the coils are suspected.

ChicagoIL · 50 areas

Chicagoland remodels that chose induction often did so in houses with older wiring, and a range that trips its breaker or cuts back at high power may be reporting on the circuit, which is measured before the board is condemned.

Los AngelesCA · 95 areas

Kitchens rebuilt in Los Angeles in recent years increasingly choose induction, and a zone that buzzes loudly or never reaches full power is tested at the coil and the board, with the cookware ruled out first.

San DiegoCA · 31 areas

Induction ranges near the San Diego coast carry their electronics just under the glass, where damp salt air can reach the board's connectors, so a zone that drops out now and then gets those connections inspected and cleaned.

San Francisco Bay AreaCA · 74 areas

The Bay Area's move toward all-electric kitchens has put induction ranges into many remodels, and a repair there works through pan detection, coil connections, the power boards and the cooling fan that keeps them alive.

Questions about
the induction range board and coil repair.

Two zones on the same side of my induction range stopped together. Why?
On many models one power board drives a pair of zones. When both stop at once, that board or its supply is the first thing tested, before either coil.
Is it worth repairing the boards on an induction range?
Usually, if the parts are available. A board is a significant part, but it is still a fraction of a new induction range, and the rest of the appliance is often in good condition. The answer changes when the board has been discontinued.
Can a surge damage an induction range?
It can. The power boards are the most sensitive parts, and a range that died during a storm or an outage is checked there first. Switching the breaker off and on is worth trying before the visit, since some controls only need a reset.
