Dacor ranges,
specifically.

Dacor sells gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges, and its Transitional ranges show C-codes such as C-20 or C-F2 on the oven display. Several of its dual-fuel ranges add a water reservoir for steam cooking and an app connection, which gives a Dacor oven more to check than a plain gas one.

The Dacor lineup

What is particular
to Dacor.

Dacor's current ranges are Transitional and Contemporary gas, dual-fuel and induction models, with older Dacor ranges still in many homes. The model on the label decides which manual and code table apply.

Smart Flame lowers the flame

On the Dacor gas range the flame is shorter under each grate finger by design, a feature Dacor calls Smart Flame. An owner can mistake that for an uneven burner, while a flame missing elsewhere around the cap is worth a look.

Brass caps change color

Dacor ships brass burner caps with some ranges, plus black porcelain caps for owners who prefer them. Dacor says the brass will discolor with use because of the flame, so darkening caps are not a sign of a burner problem.

A steam reservoir on dual fuel

Dacor's 36-inch Transitional dual-fuel range has a water reservoir for Steam Cook, Steam Proof and descaling. That adds a steam sensor and drain system with their own codes, C-70 and C-72.

Foil can set a code

Dacor gives a blocked oven vent its own code, C-24, and names aluminum foil as the usual cause. Removing the foil and resetting often clears it without any repair.

Parts

Control boards, sensors and igniters are ordered by model number. Parts for older Dacor ranges from before the Samsung era may need to be ordered after the first visit.

Repair or replace

Most Dacor C-codes point to a sensor, a connection or a board, which are repairable parts. Replacement is worth weighing on an older range that needs several control parts, or where parts are no longer made.

Questions about
Dacor ranges.

My Dacor brass burner caps have turned dark. Is something wrong?
No. Dacor says brass caps discolor when they meet the gas flame, which is a natural reaction of the metal. Dacor includes black porcelain caps with those ranges for owners who prefer a finish that stays the same.
Why is the flame shorter under the grates on my Dacor range?
That is Dacor's Smart Flame design: the flame height is reduced under each grate support finger. Elsewhere the flame should be steady, blue and even around the cap; if it is not, book a visit.
How long should a Dacor burner take to light?
Dacor says within about four seconds of turning the knob to Lite, with the igniter clicking until it catches. If it keeps sparking without lighting, turn the knob off and book a visit.
Does my Dacor range stop working if the Wi-Fi drops?
No. Dacor states that the range keeps operating if the Wi-Fi connection is lost; only the app features stop until it reconnects.
