Electrolux ranges,
specifically.

Electrolux's current US ranges are 30- and 36-inch freestanding models in gas, dual-fuel and induction versions, with no radiant electric model listed. These newer ranges show Err with a number when something goes wrong, while Electrolux's online code guide still lists the F-codes of its earlier electric ranges.

The Electrolux lineup

What is particular
to Electrolux.

This page draws on the owner's guides for the 30-inch ECFI3068A induction range and the ECFD3068A dual-fuel range, and on Electrolux's range code guide. The dual-fuel models add two dual brass power burners and an oval griddle burner; the induction models add a bridge that links two zones.

Burners need a held knob

The gas burners on Electrolux's dual-fuel ranges carry a thermocouple, so the knob must be held in for 3 to 5 seconds after the flame lights. If the flame goes out when you let go, the thermocouple simply was not warm yet.

A 15-second rule for lighting

If a burner does not light within 15 seconds, the owner's guide asks you to turn it off and wait 5 minutes before trying again. Repeated clicking without a pause is not the fix.

Magnetic zone sensors

On the induction ranges, each zone has a magnetic sensor that tells suitable cookware from unsuitable. A pan the magnet will not stick to gives no heat at all, which is by design.

5d means demo mode

On the ECF ranges, 5d on the display means demo mode: everything responds but nothing heats. Leaving it takes a power cycle and a change in the settings menu.

Parts

Electrolux's owner's guides ask you to record an Err code, not to decode it, so the exact code guides which part is ordered. Parts availability was not checked on an Electrolux source.

Repair or replace

Demo mode, a thermocouple that needs a longer hold and a non-magnetic pan need no part. On a current ECF range, fixing a single board, igniter or sensor usually makes more sense than replacing a range this new.

Questions about
Electrolux ranges.

The burner on my Electrolux dual-fuel range goes out when I let go of the knob. Why?
The burner has a thermocouple that must warm up before the flame stays on. Keep the knob pushed in for 3 to 5 seconds after it lights, and wait a moment before trying again if it goes out.
My Electrolux range shows Err and a number. Where do I look it up?
The owner's guide does not list the numbers; it asks you to record the code. Write it down exactly and book a visit so the code can be read with the right service information.
Why does my pan not heat on my Electrolux induction range?
Each zone checks the pan with a magnetic sensor. If a magnet does not cling firmly to the base, the zone will not heat that pan.
Why is 5d showing on my Electrolux range?
5d means demo mode, which runs the display without producing heat. Disconnect and reconnect power, then switch the demo setting off in the menu.
