DCS ranges,
specifically.

DCS, a California brand aligned with Fisher and Paykel since 2004, no longer lists indoor ranges on its US site, which now sells outdoor grills and outdoor refrigeration. Its professional gas and dual-fuel ranges are still cooking in many kitchens, built around restaurant-style burners with a simmer flame that stays lit.

Where it sitsNo indoor range sold now

DCS lists only outdoor products today; the indoor DCS ranges still in kitchens are repaired from their model plate and the maker's manual.

What is particular
to DCS.

DCS indoor ranges included the RDS professional dual-fuel range, sold in 30-, 36- and 48-inch widths. With the line discontinued, the exact model on the label matters more than usual before a part is ordered.

A simmer flame that stays lit

On DCS professional ranges the small simmer flame burns whenever the burner is on, under a large cap that spreads low heat. A draft or boil-over that puts it out is followed by an automatic relight, the same as the main flame.

The cap must be in place

DCS says its burners should never run without the cap fitted, because the cap shapes both the main flame and the simmer. A cap left off after cleaning is one of the first things to check when flames look wrong.

Heavy grates keep cooking

The cast-iron grates hold heat long after a burner is turned off, and DCS warns that food may keep cooking on them. That retained heat is normal and not a sign of a valve that has not shut.

No longer sold indoors

The DCS US site now shows only outdoor products, so an indoor DCS range is a discontinued model. The model and serial label decide which parts can still be found.

Parts

Burner parts, igniters and oven components for discontinued DCS ranges can take time to source. Expect some parts to be ordered after the first visit.

Repair or replace

A DCS range with sound burners and oven is usually worth repairing, since igniters, valves and thermostats are ordinary parts. Replacement becomes a fair question when a needed part is no longer available.

Questions about
DCS ranges.

Does DCS still make indoor ranges?
Not for sale in the US: the DCS US site lists grills, outdoor refrigeration, heaters and storage only. Existing DCS ranges can still be repaired when parts are available.
Is the small flame on my DCS burner supposed to stay lit?
Yes. DCS designed its simmer flame to burn whenever the burner is on, and to relight on its own if a draft or boil-over puts it out.
My DCS burner flame is yellow or fluttering. Can I adjust it?
DCS says an improper air-gas mixture causes a yellow tip or flutter and that a technician should adjust the flame. Check that the cap is seated and the ports are clean, then book a visit rather than touching the gas settings.
