What is particular
to Maytag.

Maytag sells gas and electric ranges only, freestanding and slide-in, with coil and glass-top electrics. Knowing the fuel and the top type is enough to plan most visits.

Coils that glow less since 2018

Maytag explains that coil elements on ranges built from June 2018 are temperature-limiting to meet updated UL standards. The outer coil stays on without glowing strongly while the inner coil cycles, which is normal and not a weak element.

A bridge for long pans

Some Maytag glass tops have a bridge area that joins two elements into one oblong zone for a griddle or roasting pan. It is switched on by turning the knob the opposite way, which is easy to miss.

Touch controls can think a key is stuck

A flashing indicator on a Maytag glass top usually means a key reads as held down because of crumbs or an object on the panel. Cleaning the panel clears it far more often than a part does.

A dark display may just be asleep

With Energy Save on, the display shows ES and then goes blank after five idle minutes. A key press brings it back, so a blank screen is not always lost power.

Parts

Maytag ranges share most igniters, sensors, elements and fans with Whirlpool models, so parts are easy to find. Touch control panels and boards are more model-specific.

Repair or replace

Most Maytag range problems come down to an element, igniter, sensor or switch, and those repairs are worth doing. A cracked glass top on an older basic model is the usual case where a new range makes sense.

Why doesn't my new Maytag coil element glow as red as my old one?
Coil elements made since June 2018 limit their temperature to meet UL standards. The outer coil stays on without glowing much while the inner coil cycles.
How do I use the bridge area on a Maytag glass top?
Push the knob in and turn it toward the Bridge zone, the opposite way from a single element. To use the whole area, turn on the rear element as well.
Does Maytag sell an induction range?
Maytag's range page offers gas and electric ranges; no induction range was listed.
Why does my Maytag display show ES and then go blank?
Energy Save is on and has put the display to sleep. Press any key to wake it, or hold Clock for ten seconds to turn the feature off.
