Thermador ranges,
specifically.

Thermador's ranges are Pro Grand and Pro Harmony models in gas and dual fuel, plus induction ranges, from 30 to 60 inches, with STAR burners on the gas tops. Its range code page gives the oven a single "E and a number" entry, and most listed codes belong to the induction top.

The Thermador lineup

What is particular
to Thermador.

This page draws on Thermador's range code page and on the Pro Grand and Pro Harmony use and care guide linked from the 36-inch PRD366WHU dual-fuel range. Thermador's US range lineup is gas, dual fuel and induction; there is no radiant electric model.

ExtraLow cycles the flame

Thermador's ExtraLow burners hold a very low heat by cycling the flame on and off, as little as 10 seconds on and 50 off. A flame that seems to go out and relight on XLO is doing what it was designed to do.

Burners relight themselves

Each STAR burner has its own igniter and should light in four seconds or less; if a flame blows out, the igniter re-lights it automatically. A burner that will not light is first checked for a cap sitting off its base.

Sabbath mode and XLO

When Sabbath mode starts, the STAR burners with ExtraLow are deactivated, while standard STAR burners keep working. Sabbath mode on the oven works only in Bake.

Induction codes protect it

On Thermador induction ranges, F2 turns off one zone and F4 all zones when the electronics overheat, F5 warns of a hot pan near the controls, and F8 is a time limit. Most clear once things cool or a control is touched.

Parts

The Pro Grand and Pro Harmony guide covers many models at once, so the rating label decides which burners, griddle and oven parts apply. Parts availability was not checked on a Thermador source.

Repair or replace

XLO cycling, a cap off its base, Sabbath mode and the induction protection codes need no part. On a pro-style range at this level, repairing an igniter, a lock or a board almost always makes more sense than replacing the range.

Questions about
Thermador ranges.

The flame on my Thermador XLO burner keeps going out and coming back. Is that normal?
Yes. ExtraLow cycles the flame on and off to hold a very low heat, as little as 10 seconds on and 50 seconds off.
How fast should a Thermador STAR burner light?
In four seconds or less, according to the use and care guide. If it takes longer or does not light, check that the cap sits correctly on the base, then book a visit.
Why do some burners on my Thermador stop working in Sabbath mode?
Sabbath mode deactivates the STAR burners with ExtraLow; the standard STAR burners stay fully functional.
My Thermador oven shows E and a number and beeps. What now?
Press TIMERS or any key to stop the beeping and reset the oven. If the code keeps returning, turn the oven off, note the number and book a visit.
