ILVE ranges,
specifically.

ILVE, a range maker founded near Padua, Italy, in 1969, lists US ranges in widths up to 60 inches, as dual-fuel models with gas burners over electric ovens and as induction models, in the Majestic, Nostalgie, Professional Plus and Panoramagic styles. The Majestic's touchscreen oven and the induction tops have their own service notes, so a visit begins from the series and the letters on the zone display.

The ILVE lineup

What is particular
to ILVE.

ILVE lists ranges from 30 to 60 inches, many with two ovens side by side, in dual-fuel and induction versions; the newest Majestic III induction ranges sit alongside the Majestic II, Nostalgie II and Professional Plus II. Earlier Nostalgie I and Professional Plus I ranges, including all-gas versions, are still covered by ILVE's service notes.

Hold the knob for five seconds

ILVE asks you to keep a burner knob pressed for about five seconds after it lights so the flame stays on when you let go. After a failed try, its manual says to wait five minutes before the next attempt.

Spark noise can freeze the touchscreen

ILVE's service notes describe the Majestic's touch display locking up from interference when the burner ignition fires. Opening and closing the oven door resets the touch control, and a ferrite is fitted if the lockups continue.

U can mean two things

On ILVE induction displays, U marks a pan that is missing or unsuitable, and the same letter also marks the 149°F food-warming position of the knob. Before blaming the pan, check where the knob is set.

Numbered codes on Majestic induction

The Majestic II induction top can show E9, E47, E5 or E6. ILVE's service list ties E9 to a damaged coil sensor, E47 to the display or power card, and E5 or E6 to the power card.

Parts

ILVE's service notes name parts by SKU and specify the software version of the display card, so the model, series generation and serial number are confirmed before an order. Lead times were not confirmed on an ILVE source.

Repair or replace

An ILVE range is a large, built-to-order appliance whose problems usually come down to one thermocouple, one board or one sensor. Repair is the sensible default unless the oven cavity or the frame itself is damaged.

Questions about
ILVE ranges.

Why won't my ILVE burner stay lit after I let go of the knob?
The knob has to stay pressed for about five seconds so the flame can heat the safety sensor; if it fails, wait five minutes before trying again. When it still goes out, ILVE's service notes point to the thermocouple or the magnet inside the valve, so book a visit.
The touchscreen on my ILVE Majestic stopped responding after I lit a burner. Is it broken?
Probably not: ILVE describes spark interference that blocks the touch control. Open and close the oven door to reset it, and book a visit if it keeps happening, since a ferrite may need to be fitted.
What does E9 mean on an ILVE Majestic induction range?
ILVE's service notes link E9 to a damaged sensor on an induction coil, which is replaced. Stop using that zone and book a visit.
My ILVE induction zone shows U. Is my pan the problem?
It may be, because U means no pan or an unsuitable one. The same letter also marks the 149°F warming setting, so look at the knob position first, then try a pan a magnet holds firmly.
