JennAir ranges,
specifically.

JennAir sells gas, dual-fuel, induction and electric radiant ranges, including slide-in models with a built-in downdraft. Its professional-style ranges have no text display for problems and flash codes on the knob lights instead, while its other ranges show F-codes on a display.

The JennAir lineup

What is particular
to JennAir.

JennAir's ranges come in professional-style gas, dual-fuel and induction models and 30-inch slide-in gas, dual-fuel, induction and electric radiant models, some with a downdraft. The two groups read and clear codes differently, so the model decides which help page applies.

Codes read from knob lights

On JennAir's professional-style range the knob rings blink amber, with three short tones and a long one, when a code is stored. The code is then counted from flashes: the Wi-Fi light marks the F number and the remote light the E number, or the JennAir app shows it directly.

One minute off, one minute watching

For most F-codes on its other ranges, JennAir asks for the breaker to stay off a full minute and then for the oven to be watched a further minute. A quicker reset is not the one its help pages describe.

A refitted door can set F5E0

On the professional-style range, F5E0 often follows a door that was taken off and put back without the hinge fully seated. JennAir's first check is a visible notch at the hinge, before any part is suspected.

ES is a sleep mode

Some JennAir ranges show ES when Energy Save blanks the display after a spell of idling, and owners often read it as E5. It is a setting, turned on or off by holding CLOCK for 10 seconds.

Parts

Boards, latches, sensors and igniters are matched to the model number. Parts for professional-style ranges may be ordered after the first visit.

Repair or replace

Most JennAir range codes point to a sensor, latch, board or wiring, all repairable. Replacement is worth weighing on an older slide-in range needing a control board and other parts together.

Questions about
JennAir ranges.

My JennAir professional-style range is blinking amber. What should I do?
Turn the Mode and Temp knobs to new positions, then set Mode to Bake and Temp to Off. If the amber lights return, a code is stored; read it from the flashes or the JennAir app and book a visit.
My JennAir range shows E5. Is it broken?
It is almost certainly ES, JennAir's Energy Save mode, which blanks the display after the range sits idle. Press a key or open the door to wake it, or hold CLOCK for 10 seconds to turn the mode off.
My JennAir range shows C81. Is the range top broken?
C81, C82 and C83 mean the surface cooking area overheated and shut itself off. Turn off the oven if it is on, wait 5 minutes and try again; book a visit if the code keeps returning.
How do I reset a JennAir range showing an F-code?
Switch it off at the breaker for one full minute, switch it back on and watch for another minute. If the F-code comes back, book a visit and give the exact code.
