Kenmore ranges,
specifically.

Kenmore, whose current manuals are issued by Transform SR Brands, sells gas, electric and induction ranges, from 24-inch compact models to front-control ranges with air fry and a 3,700-watt Turbo Boil induction element. The number printed in the Kenmore manual is not the same as the model number shown in the store, and service starts from the manual's number.

The Kenmore lineup

What is particular
to Kenmore.

Current Kenmore ranges include 30-inch gas, electric and induction models, many front-control with convection and air fry, plus 24-inch compact electrics. Kenmore manuals use different model prefixes, such as 405 and 982, so the label's model number decides the parts.

Two model numbers for one range

Kenmore's site shows a store model number, such as 22-96853, while the linked Use & Care Guide lists a different one, 982.9685#. The technician needs the number on the range's own label, which matches the manual.

Turbo Boil induction

Kenmore's induction range has a 3,700-watt Turbo Boil element and dual-ring zones that match the pan size. A zone shows H while it is too hot to touch.

Compact 24-inch models

Kenmore sells 24-inch front-control electric ranges with four elements for small kitchens. Parts and access differ from a standard 30-inch range, so mention the width when booking.

Er codes on the gas models

Kenmore's 405-series gas range shows Er followed by a number or letter, or ErrF, for a function error. The manual's first step is an hour of cooling and then a power reset.

Parts

Kenmore lists replacement parts on its site, including elements, burner grates and control parts. Control boards for older models can take longer to source.

Repair or replace

Elements, igniters, sensors and knobs are worth replacing on a Kenmore range. An older unit whose control board is no longer made is where comparing with a new range makes sense.

Questions about
Kenmore ranges.

Which model number do I give for a Kenmore range repair?
The one on the range's label, which is the number used in the Use & Care Guide, such as 982.9685#. The store number on kenmore.com is different.
What does Er- or ErrF mean on my Kenmore gas range?
It is a function error code. Press Cancel/Off, let the oven cool for an hour, and if it repeats, cut power for 30 seconds; book a visit if it still returns.
Does Kenmore sell an induction range?
Yes. Kenmore lists front-control induction ranges, including one with a 3,700-watt Turbo Boil element.
Why does a zone on my Kenmore induction range show H?
That zone is still too hot to touch. The H goes out once it cools to a safe temperature.
