What the range knobs, switches and controls
involves.
Range control board repair covers the parts that turn your commands into heat. Knobs sit on valve stems or switch shafts, and a cracked or stripped knob no longer turns what is behind it. The front or back panel holds the clock, the display and the oven keys, which connect by a ribbon cable to the control board. That board reads the oven sensor and switches relays for the elements, the igniter, the fans, the lamp and the lock; on many electric and induction ranges it also runs the zones on top. Heat, moisture from boiling pots and power surges are hard on these parts. The repair tests the keys, the cable and the board's outputs before replacing anything, because a board is the costliest part in most ranges.
How the visit goesWhat it usually costsModerate · Knobs, keypad or control board
A knob or a spark switch is minor. A keypad or ribbon cable lands in the middle, and a main control board, especially one that also runs the zones on top, is the priciest part in this row.

Run the oven and the range top through their functions to confirm every key and relay responds.
Confirm the symptom: dead keys, a blank display, a reset clock or an element or burner that will not follow the setting.
Check the breaker, the outlet and any control lock, and look for a code on the display.
Remove the control panel and test the keypad, the ribbon cable, the transformer and the board relays.
Replace the failed knob, switch, keypad or board, and restore any settings the owner relies on.

All service areasTampa BayFL · 31 areas
Storm-season surges around Tampa Bay reach a range's electronic control first, and a panel that went blank or shows an error after an outage is often cured by a power reset or else a new board, tried in that order.
OrlandoFL · 30 areas
Orlando rentals see range knobs pulled, lost and forced by guests, so a replacement knob or a stripped switch shaft is a quick fix, while a front touch panel that stopped responding is checked for spills that reached its membrane.
Miami / South FloridaFL · 47 areas
Salt air in South Florida waterfront towers reaches touch panels and knob switches alike, and ghost presses or a control that beeps on its own usually trace to corroded connectors that can be cleaned or replaced.
New York MetroNY · 75 areas
New York gas ranges rely on the valve behind each knob and the spark switch on its stem, and a burner that keeps clicking after a pot boils over usually means moisture in that switch, which may dry out or may need replacing.
HoustonTX · 36 areas
A Houston range that lost its clock or shows an error after a storm outage may only need its breaker cycled, and if the display stays dark, the control board, its fuse and the transformer are tested before anything is ordered.
ChicagoIL · 50 areas
Chicagoland's older ranges carry mechanical knobs and clock timers built to last decades, and when one fails, the single switch or thermostat is replaced, which often keeps a sturdy range cooking for years more.
Los AngelesCA · 95 areas
Los Angeles pro-style ranges use heavy metal knobs with valves or switches behind them, and a knob that turns without effect or feels loose is traced to the valve stem or switch and replaced with the maker's matching part.
San DiegoCA · 31 areas
San Diego's coastal ranges can develop sticky or unresponsive controls as salt reaches the switches behind the knobs, and a repair there replaces the corroded switch rather than only cleaning the knob.
San Francisco Bay AreaCA · 74 areas
Induction and connected ranges in Bay Area kitchens pair touch controls with Wi-Fi features, and when the panel misbehaves, the visit checks the control board and ribbon cables before blaming the app or the network.
