What 159
actually means.
159 is a radio error: the receiver inside the range that picks up the handset is not communicating with the main board. The handset may still work normally while the receiver link inside the cooker has dropped.
AGA range display
What to do when 159 shows on the rangeKind of codeControls and communication
The display, the main board or the induction power board lost contact with one another, or one of them failed its own self-check. A power dip, a loose cable or moisture from a boil-over is ruled out before a board is replaced, and a range that keeps heating while this code shows is switched off at the breaker.
Usually leads toKnobs, switches and controls
Knobs that spin or crack, touch keys that do nothing, blank displays, clocks that reset and control boards that switch the wrong thing.
Shows up asRange Error Code
The range display shows letters, numbers or a flashing symbol, beeps, and stops the oven, a cooking zone or a clean.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from AGA's own guidance for 159 on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Check the handset batteries; AGA says to change them at one bar and not to use rechargeables.
If 159 stays with fresh batteries, book a visit to check the receiver.
Still there?
It usually turns into knobs, switches and controls. Book with the code and the model number.
What not to do
159 is not a heating problem. The zones can keep running on their last settings while the radio link is down.
