Whirlpool range

Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 875-7576

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Whirlpool's own guidance for H on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep hands, towels and plastic off that area until the H goes out.

02

If H stays lit or flashes long after the top is cold, turn the breaker off for a minute and back on.

Cleared?

The range was set right without a new part. If the same message comes back while a burner or the oven is in use, or the range cuts out again, treat it as a new problem and book it.

What not to do

H is a heat reminder, not a code for a broken element; a steady H over a cold top is the only version worth a visit.

What you may
notice with it.

The range problems H tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the range was told to do, or a state it chose on purpose — a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a demo mode that lights the display but never heats, a pan warning on an induction zone. Nothing has worn out, and no part is needed.

In Whirlpool's own words

An H will display in the heat setting window when any surface cooking area is too hot to touch, even after the surface cooking area(s) is turned off.

Questions
about H.

Can I clear H myself?
Keep hands, towels and plastic off that area until the H goes out.
How long should the H stay on my Whirlpool range?
Until that area has cooled enough to touch, which varies with how long and how hot it ran. Whirlpool only treats it as a problem when it stays on or flashes once the glass is cool.
Can an H on my Whirlpool mean the element is stuck on?
An H alone does not; it reports heat, not power. If the area is actually glowing or getting hotter with the knob off, switch the breaker off and book an urgent visit.

Back to your everyday

Still showing H?

Book with the code exactly as it appears, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or scorching — with a code, that is where the diagnosis begins.
