What L
actually means.
L on the power displays means the zones have been locked out so children cannot switch them on. The lock is set, and released, by turning the knobs of zones 1 and 2 to the left together while all zones are off.

What to do when L shows on the rangeKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something the range was told to do, or a state it chose on purpose — a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a demo mode that lights the display but never heats, a pan warning on an induction zone. Nothing has worn out, and no part is needed.
Usually leads toNo repair
With the zones off, turn the knobs of zones 1 and 2 to the left at the same time until L disappears, then release them.
Shows up asRange Control Panel Not Responding
The touch keys or knobs on the range do nothing, only some keys work, the display is blank or frozen, or it beeps without starting.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Bertazzoni's own guidance for L on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
With the zones off, turn the knobs of zones 1 and 2 to the left at the same time until L disappears, then release them.
Cleared?
The range was set right without a new part. If the same message comes back while a burner or the oven is in use, or the range cuts out again, treat it as a new problem and book it.
What not to do
L is not a failed control; the zones refuse to start because the lock is on.
What you may
notice with it.
The range problems L tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range before anyone is booked.

Gas range
Open flames on top and a gas-fired oven below, all fed by one supply line behind the range and lit by igniters rather than a match.
Dual-fuel range
Gas burners on top and an electric oven below, the combination most professional-style ranges use, needing both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit.
Induction range
A glass top that heats the pan itself through copper coils and power boards, over an electric oven, with electronics doing almost all the work.
In Bertazzoni's own words
With the cooking zones off, turn the knobs of zones 1 and 2 to the left simultaneously until L appears on the power display and then release the knobs.
