What Loc
actually means.
Loc is the Lock Out feature on the SKS gas slide-in. It locks the oven door and stops most oven and burner controls from turning on, while the timer and oven light still work; it is set and cleared by holding Probe for three seconds with the mode knob at Off.

What to do when Loc shows on the rangeKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something the range was told to do, or a state it chose on purpose — a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a demo mode that lights the display but never heats, a pan warning on an induction zone. Nothing has worn out, and no part is needed.
Usually leads toNo repair
Set the oven mode knob to Off and press and hold Probe for three seconds to release Lock Out.
Shows up asRange Control Panel Not Responding
The touch keys or knobs on the range do nothing, only some keys work, the display is blank or frozen, or it beeps without starting.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from SKS's own guidance for Loc on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Set the oven mode knob to Off and press and hold Probe for three seconds to release Lock Out.
After a self-clean, allow up to an hour for the door to unlock as the oven cools.
Cleared?
The range was set right without a new part. If the same message comes back while a burner or the oven is in use, or the range cuts out again, treat it as a new problem and book it.
What not to do
Loc is not a failed latch. A door that stays locked long after the oven is cold is the case for a visit.
What you may
notice with it.
The range problems Loc tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range before anyone is booked.

Gas range
Open flames on top and a gas-fired oven below, all fed by one supply line behind the range and lit by igniters rather than a match.
Dual-fuel range
Gas burners on top and an electric oven below, the combination most professional-style ranges use, needing both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit.
Induction range
A glass top that heats the pan itself through copper coils and power boards, over an electric oven, with electronics doing almost all the work.
In SKS's own words
The Lock Out feature automatically locks the oven door and prevents most oven and cooktop controls from being turned on.
Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. Lock Out and its Loc display are described in the UPSG3014ST gas slide-in manual.
