What HS
actually means.
HS is LG's hot-surface indicator: the top is above 150°F. LG says it is not an error code, only a warning that the surface is too hot to touch.

What to do when HS shows on the rangeKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something the range was told to do, or a state it chose on purpose — a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a demo mode that lights the display but never heats, a pan warning on an induction zone. Nothing has worn out, and no part is needed.
Usually leads toNo repair
Keep hands and cloths off the top until HS goes out.
Shows up asRange Error Code
The range display shows letters, numbers or a flashing symbol, beeps, and stops the oven, a cooking zone or a clean.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from LG's own guidance for HS on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Keep hands and cloths off the top until HS goes out.
If the surface is at room temperature and HS stays on, reset the breaker for 30 seconds, then book a visit if it persists.
Cleared?
The range was set right without a new part. If the same message comes back while a burner or the oven is in use, or the range cuts out again, treat it as a new problem and book it.
What not to do
HS is not a failure unless it stays on over a cold top.
What you may
notice with it.
The range problem HS tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range before anyone is booked.

Book with the code exactly as it appears, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or scorching — with a code, that is where the diagnosis begins.
