What F42
actually means.
LG uses F42 for a voltage error: the supply reaching the range is outside what the control expects. The house wiring or the range connection may be involved.
LG range display
What to do when F42 shows on the rangeKind of codeControls and communication
The display, the main board or the induction power board lost contact with one another, or one of them failed its own self-check. A power dip, a loose cable or moisture from a boil-over is ruled out before a board is replaced, and a range that keeps heating while this code shows is switched off at the breaker.
Usually leads toKnobs, switches and controls
Knobs that spin or crack, touch keys that do nothing, blank displays, clocks that reset and control boards that switch the wrong thing.
Shows up asRange Keeps Tripping the Breaker
The range breaker trips when you switch on an element, the oven or self-clean, or it trips by itself with the range idle.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from LG's own guidance for F42 on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Switch the breaker off, wait 30 seconds and restore power to clear F42.
If F42 returns, leave the breaker off and have the supply and range connection checked.
Still there?
It usually turns into knobs, switches and controls. Book with the code and the model number.
What not to do
F42 is not a board error inside the oven; LG links it to voltage.
