Is the board dead? Check the simple things first: the breaker, the outlet on a gas range, and whether the display has been dimmed or turned off in the settings. If there is power at the range and the display is still dark, the transformer, the display board or the main board is tested. ### Why does my range beep and show a code I do not recognize? Many codes are reminders or modes rather than failures, such as a control lock, a demo mode or a Sabbath setting. Write the code down exactly and look it up in the owner's manual; the range's code pages on this site explain the ones worth a visit. ### A knob spins without turning the burner on. What broke? Usually the knob itself: the plastic insert that grips the flat on the shaft cracks or wears round. A new knob solves it.
