On the Kenmore 405.7608 gas range, Steam Clean refuses to start while the oven is above 100 degrees F, and the display reads Hot until it cools. Kenmore range display What to do when Hot shows on the range ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something the range was told to do, or a state it chose on purpose — a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a demo mode that lights the display but never heats, a pan warning on an induction zone. Nothing has worn out, and no part is needed. ### Usually leads to No repair Give the oven time to cool. ### Shows up as Range Self-Clean Problems The self-clean cycle will not start, stops partway, leaves the door locked, smokes heavily, or leaves the oven dead afterward. ### Make Kenmore A Sears store brand whose ranges were built for it by other appliance manufacturers. ### Source Kenmore Use & Care Guide, gas range 405.7608# Kenmore gas ranges model 405.7608# with Steam Clean. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Kenmore's own guidance for Hot on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Give the oven time to cool. 02 Start Steam Clean again once the display no longer shows Hot. ### Cleared? The range was set right without a new part. If the same message comes back while a burner or the oven is in use, or the range cuts out again, treat it as a new problem and book it. ### What not to do Hot here is a lockout for the steam cycle, not a sign of an oven that will not stop heating. ## What you may notice with it.
