Frigidaire calls F40 and F41 a lockout of the range top: the control has shut the surface elements out. The oven may still respond. Frigidaire range display · also shown as F41 What to do when F40 shows on the range ### Kind of code Surface elements and induction A radiant element, a coil or an induction zone did not heat the way the control expected, or ran hotter than it should. The pan, the switch behind the knob and the wiring to the element come first; on induction, the power board and the coil under the glass are checked next. A zone that will not switch off, or a crack in the glass, means the breaker goes off before anything else. ### Usually leads to Surface element and glass top repair Electric zones that stay cold, run too hot or will not switch off, and cracked or damaged glass on radiant and induction models. ### Shows up as Range Surface Element Not Heating One coil or glass-top zone on an electric range stays cold, heats only weakly, or will not respond while the others work. ### Make Frigidaire A long-running American brand, now owned by Electrolux, that sells everyday freestanding and front-control ranges on gas, electric and induction. ### Source Frigidaire "Range Error Code F40 / F41 - Cooktop Lock Out" Taken from Frigidaire's electric range articles; no model list is given for F40. ## Before you book, in this order. Clear F40 by cutting power to the range for up to 30 seconds. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why will my Frigidaire elements not heat with F40 showing? F40 means the control has locked the top out. A reset is the first step, and a repeat code needs service. ### Is F41 on a Frigidaire range the same as the lock I set myself? No. The lock you set shows a dash; F41 is a code the control raises on its own. --- **[Read on the site: Frigidaire range showing F40 or F41 | RangeRepair.center](https://rangerepair.center/error-codes/frigidaire-f40/)** **[Book a visit with RangeRepair.center](https://rangerepair.center/schedule/)**
