F31 is Frigidaire's shorted probe code: the probe circuit reads as if its wires were touching. The control cannot trust the temperature and stops heating. Frigidaire range display What to do when F31 shows on the range ### Kind of code Temperature sensor The oven sensor sent a reading the control would not accept, or one that climbed well past the setting. A loose plug or a sensor that has drifted is ruled out before the control board, and a temperature that keeps rising means the range is switched off at the breaker first. ### Usually leads to Temperature sensor and thermostat repair A range oven that bakes hot, bakes slow, takes forever to preheat or posts a sensor code, traced to the sensor probe, the thermostat or the calibration. ### Shows up as Range Oven Temperature Wrong Recipes burn or come out underdone, and an oven thermometer disagrees with the temperature set on the range. ### Make Frigidaire A long-running American brand, now owned by Electrolux, that sells everyday freestanding and front-control ranges on gas, electric and induction. ### Source Frigidaire "Range Error Code F31 - Shorted Probe" Frigidaire files F31 under electric ranges and does not say which models use it. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Frigidaire's own guidance for F31 on its ranges. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Cut power for about 30 seconds at the plug or breaker. 02 Book a visit if F31 comes back after the reset. ### Still there? Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do F31 is the short; an open reading on the same probe is F30. ## What you may notice with it. The range problems F31 tends to arrive with. Cut power for about 30 seconds at the plug or breaker. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What is the difference between F30 and F31 on a Frigidaire range? F30 is an open probe circuit and F31 a shorted one. The technician measures the same probe either way, but the reading points to different causes. ### Can a cleaning spill cause F31 on my Frigidaire range? Moisture at a connector can cause a short reading. A reset may clear it once things dry, but a repeat F31 needs service. --- **[Read on the site: Frigidaire range showing F31 | RangeRepair.center](https://rangerepair.center/error-codes/frigidaire-f31/)** **[Book a visit with RangeRepair.center](https://rangerepair.center/schedule/)**
